I know there seems to be a rash of charity bike rides around at the moment but I am doing Paris – London this weekend to raise money for MapAction – the charity I volunteer for. Funds raised pay for maps and consumables that we make during disasters such as earthquakes and floods. Please make a donation however small.

During the Japan tsunami disaster we raised over £3000 in just a few days on the See The Difference website – there is a good video here which describes what we do.

I set off for Paris on the Eurostar on Thursday and meet the rest of the gang at the hotel for an 8am start on Friday. Friday night in Les Andeleys on the Seine. Then up to Dieppe via the Avenue Verte (traffic-free cycle way) to get the 5pm ferry from Dieppe, staying at YHA Alfriston Saturday night. Then across the Downs on Sunday to finish at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich Park in the afternoon.
