heading for the hills

Posted by: mike In: out & about

Susie and I head to the hills again this weekend for the KIMM – Karrimor International Mountain Marathon … and it looks like a wet one!

Training has not been so enthusiastic as last year – we had a good run on the South Downs last month (see photo) which boosted our confidence. However, I’ve already done the LAMM (Lowe Alpine MM) this year with Gary where low cloud and some lucky navigation placed us 15th out of 172 on the D course.

This time Susie and I are doing the short score course, like last year, where the aim is to get as many points as possible in a fixed time. Penalties are harsh if you are over time. We have 5 hours to run on Saturday and 4 hours the next day. We are aiming to better our result from the Brecon Beacons lat year where we came 68th out of 245 teams.

The location … the area around Ullswater and the Helvellyn range … bit different from the South Downs!
